Many Chinese people are introverts and can easily get upset or panic when something unexpected happened. Interestingly, the word “ (fāng): square” is now used as a youth slang word meaning “to panic”. So, how to say “to panic” in Chinese?

How to say “to panic” in Chinese: 方了 (fang le) = to panic

 (fāng) means “square”.

We say 方了 (fāng le) when something unexpected has happened and you start to panic and don’t know what to do.
